Jessica…

Jessica and her family became homeless nearly one year ago, when the home they were renting sold. Since then Jessica and her 4 children, were living day-to-day, staying in hotels. Paying hotel rates of approximately $100.00 a nite, it seemed as if this nightmare would never end. Jessica , although had many rental leads, could not see how she could ever save enough money for the extremely high security deposit, while paying for hotels to keep a roof over her family. Desperate and tired, Jessica received a “break” when a friend told her about the services Midtown Family Services offers. She had no idea, these type of services existed. Midtown Family Services was able to assist Jessica with deposit, and today the family has a place to call HOME. Aside from deposit assistance, Jessica received blankets, clothing, backpacks and school supplies from Donation Distribution Center.

Raul

Youth Intervention Services – Raul turned 14 years old on February and has been out of school for 6 months. Raul was homeless; therefore his uncle decided to intervene and bring him into his home. With Raul’s parents being absent, his uncle faced the struggle of enrolling him into school. For months Raul’s uncle attempted enrollment and was unsuccessful. Raul felt the need to try to help; he even tried to enroll himself in school, and was turned away. Feeling hopeless and powerless about the situation they found themselves in, the family came across Midtown. Midtown was able to advocate between the school district and the family, assisted in obtaining all required documents needed for the enrollment process. We are happy to inform that Raul has started school and is thriving!
